Happy Valentine’s Day!

I made these for a Love Breakfast with my buds yesterday. They’re biscuits from that Clinton St. Baking Company cook book. Everything in there turns out so homey and yum.
Will, Boone, and I also made some brownies from that book last night. They turned out really nicely too (sorry, no photo!).
Here’s the recipe for the biscuits (this is for 6):
Whole Wheat Buttermilk Biscuits
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 T baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 T unsalted butter (cubed and chilled)
- 3 T shortening (cubed and chilled)
- 3/4 c buttermilk
- Heat the oven to 350
- Combine dry ingredients in a bowl
- Cut in the butter and shortening with a pastry blender until you get a nice mealy blend
- mix in the buttermilk by hand, trying not to handle it too much
- roll out the scrappy dough on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes
- bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown on top (my oven is lame so I can’t get the golden brown on top)
